1.1. Setting up the VPN (Mac)

Please follow these guidelines for setting up the VPN on your computer.

Step 1: Unzip the VPN pack which has been emailed to you.

Step 2: Double click on the UHB_VPN file.

When prompted to install the UHB_Profile click on 'Continue.'

A similar message will then appear, stating that the author is unknown, make sure you trust the sender before installing. Click 'Continue'.

Then enter your username. This will be your first initial and then surname. For example, for Jack Jones, it would be jjones. Click on 'Install.'

Enter your Mac's system password.

You have now installed the VPN profile.

Step 3: Now go up to the 'View' menu and select 'Network.'

Locate the UHB_VPN service on the left-hand list. Locate the 'Show VPN status in menu bar' on the right-side of the window and check the box.

Step 4: Connect to your VPN

The easiest way to connect to the VPN is from the menu bar at the top of the screen (on the right, near the time/date):

Click on the Connect to UHB_VPN from the menu.

You will then be required to enter your password. The password was emailed to your registered mobile phone number.

Once you've clicked on 'OK' it's recommended that you go back up to the VPN icon in the menu items and select the 'Show Time Connected' option.

This will then provide you with a counter which clearly shows that your VPN is working and the duration of your session.

You should now be connected to the VPN.

1.2. Connecting to the server when using the VPN (Mac)

Step 1: Unzip the VPN pack which has been emailed to you.

Step 2: Copy the UHB DataSet shortcut to your desktop, or home folder, or somewhere for safe keeping.

Double click on the UHB DataSet shortcut to connect to the server storage. You will be asked to enter your credentials. These are the same as your VPN credentials, so the username will be your first initial and then surname. For example, for Jack Jones, it would be jjones. The password was sent to your registered mobile phone number (SMS text message).

Click on 'Connect' and you'll then have access to DataSet from either the desktop, sidebar or by going to the 'Go' Menu and selecting 'Computer' from the Finder.

If you should experience any problems with using the provided shortcut, you can access the server by going to the 'Go' Menu, select 'Connect to Server' and typing into the address bar: smb://10.2.0.1/DataSet
